On Monday I shared with you two of my current colour inspirations, Copper and Blue. Today I’d like to share a few of my favourite Instagrammers whom I find inspiring and push me, without them realising, to take better photos or write better blog posts. Here are just 4 of them…

The Boy Who Bakes
Edd is a baker, food writer and a fellow Yorkshireman (from my city of Leeds to be exact!) who takes mesmerising photographs of food, that makes me wish I was a better baker and a better food photographer.

Candy Pop
Candy Pop is a lifestyle blog documenting everyday adventures of Natasha. Her photos are bright, quirky and colourful, which empowers me not to be afraid to capture the more unusual musings of everyday life.

This is Jules
Jules is another fellow Yorkshirewoman capturing life in both Yorkshire and Wales in truly wonderful ways. You’ll also find photos of her budgie Frankie on her feed too, the’ll definitely put a smile on your face. Seeing Jules’ photos of Yorkshire inspire me to go out and photograph it more candidly.

Little Big Bell
Little Big Bell is a specially curated design and lifestyle blog by Geraldine Tan. Her photos document her colourful treasures and eye for interior design. After looking at Little Big Bell’s photos I push myself to take better homeware shots and to make use of the surroundings within my home to display my treasures.

When I found this book I knew I had found something special. The title intrigued me, and I was hoping the inside matched what it spelled out on the cover… it was exactly that and I wasn’t disappointed. Luke Stephenson’s wonderful book 99x99s is filled with, yes you’ve guessed it, 99 photos of 99s. For those who don’t know what 99s are, they are a specific type of ice cream delight, where the ice cream is silky soft, served on top of a crisp wafer cone and topped with a chocolate flake (and sometimes juice and bits!).

For most people the 99s bring back fond memories of childhood, trips to the seaside and for me, wondering why the 99s didn’t cost 99p, because that’s why they were called that right?!

During the summer of 2013 British photographer Luke Stephenson embarked on a road trip around the UK, photographing this great British food icon, and documenting how each seaside town or city translated this ice cold treat. The result are brilliant, with each 99 different to the next, the soft ice-cream is peaked and swirled in it’s traditional way, and the flake is precariously balanced at an angle we all recognise.

For me this perfectly illustrates what a unique country we have and it’s these little details that makes this country ours.

January has been a varied month for my ‘I Saw This and Thought’ challenge. A lot of the photos I took were a case of being in the right place at the right time, which makes it fun, exciting and random – which I love!

Some of my favourite photos this month were the neon lights and the snow scenes, which made the grey days of January a lot more interesting…

December provided many opportunities to photograph and capture lots of different subjects, some quite random which I love, it makes life a little more interesting that way. I don’t normally pick favourites but I’m going to break the rules and say my two favourite photos from last month were the Scottish Whisky and colourful chairs. They’re just colourful and great!

Christmas is a creative time of year, and there’s nothing more wonderful than looking at the all the Christmas windows that have been created, they are truly spectacular. I decided to capture some of the windows as they were too good to miss, and as you can see there are a great mix of designs ranging from the traditional to the …not so traditional, and of course I had to capture the quirky windows to share with you!

All but one of these photos were taken in Leeds, I did want to broaden my range to London, but as you know at Christmas, time flies and I didn’t make it. It’s already on my to do list for next year!

November was a very colourful month for photography. The changing of the seasons meant there were some wonderful wintery skies contrasting against the burnt okra hues of trees, shops preparing for Christmas with eye-catching displays, plus the odd quirky find that had to be shot and thrown in for good measure…

It’s been a great month for photographing due to the unseasonably warm weather we’ve had this autumn, it’s been lovely. The flowers were blooming for longer, leaves stayed on the trees a few extra days, and the bright blue sky provided some brilliant backdrops for my photos.
