Navajo Patterned Details

Posted On: Monday, September 21, 2015

As you all know I love patterns, I’ve posted about them many times, but recently there’s one pattern which is very on trend at the moment and one I used to love even before stars (yes i know!) and I’d completely forgotten about it until now; the Navajo print. This beautiful Native American pattern, with it’s mix of bold and pale colours, used to adorn my bedroom and I can’t believe I forgot about it, but I’m so pleased this graphic print is back.

Native American Print

When researching for this post I found this print everywhere, even in places I was’t expecting to see it, including the coffee machine in Starbucks (a quick photo was needed whist I waited for my caffeine hit.) I also found Navajo patterned skirts, blouses and scarves; two of which I had to buy purely for reminiscent reasons.

I also love old Native American photo’s, they are very powerful shots and the faces of the natives hold so much history within them. I’m beginning to realise that my love of Native America and the Navajo tribes has always been with me and long may it continue.

Flamingos A Go Go

Posted On: Wednesday, August 5, 2015

There’s a new trend on the horizon; still within the tropical realms but we’re moving on from pineapples and tropical leaves and onto Flamingos. This magnificent bright bird, who gets it colour from eating shrimps, is fast becoming the new must have in homeware trends.

I’ve noticed that the flamingo trend has been around for at least a year now, and has steadily been growing in the background whilst the other tropical trends have been popular, but now is its time to shine and the flamingo trend is here.

Flower Photography Trend

Posted On: Monday, July 27, 2015

For a while now there has been a new trend emerging in photography, particularly flower photography. The trend I’m talking about is the flat image, where there’s little tone and shadow within the photo and it appears to have a subtle white film over it, creating a delicate vintage feel to the overall image.

Flower-inspiration

I guess you could say this trend has been prominent in photography for quite a while now and this is down to the rise in photography apps. Some say this is a cheats way to create this effect, and I tend to agree, but it lets the novice photographer create an image they might not necessarily be able to do otherwise. Controversial I know! When I take my photos, as long as the image is right in my camera first, then the app just enhances the overall look instantly. Here’s a few photos I’ve been experimenting with, I’m getting there!

It’s not just photography that features this flat photo trend, more and more products on the high street and online are applying this design and the results are wonderful and elegant…

So next time you photograph your favourite flower, food or building why not apply this flat style, it will enhance your photos more than you think.

Drinks Cart

Posted On: Monday, July 13, 2015

I’ve come over all Mad Men in my post today, inspired by images I’ve been seeing online, the latest trend for homes and interiors is the drinks cart. There seems to be a mini revival for this piece of furniture thanks to cocktail and underground/prohibition style bars making a comeback, it seems the next step is to own your own drinks cart. With many styles and designs to choose from, the cart isn’t seen as old fashioned anymore, filled with the right ingredients and styled perfectly, it’s the ‘must have’ for your next party.

Tropical Leaf Vibes

Tropical-leaves-montage

Well I have to confess, this wasn’t the post I had planned for today, but I’m so glad I switched things around and posted my tropical leaves collection. I’ve been seeing tropical / jungle foliage everywhere recently, due to it being this seasons hottest trend and I love it. As you know green is my favourite colour (I think I may have mentioned this on a few occasions!) and I love the texture of the leaves and the patterns they create. I hope this trend sticks around well into Summer.

Early Trends for 2015

Posted On: Monday, January 12, 2015

Back in September I posted about Pantone’s colour trends for 2015. Then, in December, Pantone announced their Colour of the Year for 2015; Marsala. A beautiful red hue with a wonderful burgundy tone running through it, reminding me of Moroccan markets filled with scents of spices and incense.

It was only a few weeks previous that I’d posted about my love of the colour Burgundy – I must have known!

As you can see Marsala is a bold and delicious colour that also compliments the pale, icy pastel colours that Pantone have predicted for late 2015. Fuse the two colours together and you create a daring and unique colour palette for both home and fashion.
