We moved into our house 18 months ago, and were quite lucky as most of the rooms were decorated with a neutral palette and wouldn’t need changing straight away. The only immediate change was the wallpaper in the kitchen, it was big, black and white flowers and seemed to take over the whole room.
I decided (for the first time in a while!) that I wanted wallpaper to replace the existing paper. Usually I stick to paint when redecorating, but I knew there were some exciting new wallpaper designs available and I had the perfect print in mind… a graphic, black and white cityscape that wasn’t overpowering and complimented our modern kitchen. Perfect.
This year we’ve decided that it’s time to add our own personal touch to some of our other rooms, and again I’d like to use wallpaper within the redesign. I’d like to create a feature wall in our living room using a floral wallpaper. I have a few favourites that could add a quirky twist to my art deco theme that I’m working on, what do you think?
Wallpaper has changed dramatically over the past 5 – 10 years and it’s now becoming fashionable again. Unlike the vinyl and wood chip wallpaper of the 1980s, designs are now art and trend orientated, with some wallpaper becoming a piece of art itself. If you want wallpaper with books, trees and flamingos on, you got it. If you want wallpaper with bright, bold geometric patterns on, you got it. If you look in the right places there is a wallpaper to suit every theme and design. Here are a few of my favourites, I just wish I had enough rooms to use them all!
